Christmas Lunch with The Oilers

On December 5th, 2014, we celebrated Christmas lunch with the Edmonton Oilers.

Each year the Oiler's host a holiday event with the team in support of Inner City. This year the students had a chance to go to Rexall Place by bus where they watched a practice and then had lunch with the team at the arena. There was great food, autographs, and an opportunity to mingle with players, management and foundation board members. Inner City would like to say a sincere thank the Oilers and The Oiler's Community Foundation for coordinating the lunch and their ongoing support of our programming!

A Big Thanks to Some of Our Sponsors!

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation is a major sponsor of Inner City High School and has been for nearly a decade now. In 2010 the Foundation purchased a building to house the School. They contracted Dialog Architects and Ledcor Construction to renovate it from top to bottom and lease it to us at a subsidized rate. The foundation also provides generous support for other areas of our programming. On December 5th, the Oilers Community Foundation coordinated a Christmas lunch with the Oilers and students at Rexall Place. See pictures here.

We appreciate their ongoing support for Edmonton’s high risk youth as they work to create a more hopeful and productive future.

Thank you to EPCOR Community Essentials Program. EPCOR helped us serve Inner City High School students with nutritious meals every day for 2 years. That level of support helps us provide Edmonton’s high risk youth with the resources they need to complete school. The next year EPCOR Community Essentials Program contributed financially to our Youth Support Program.  We appreciate EPCOR’s investment in our community.

Thank You Edmonton Superheroes!

We'd like to say a big thank you to all the participants, sponsors and volunteers who made our Superhero Fun Run/Walk such a success on Sunday, June 15, 2014.

The weather was awesome and we think everyone enjoyed being out in our beautiful River Valley on Father's Day. For 9 am on a Sunday, there were tons of creative costumes and people really got into showing off their super skills.  Walkers and runners completed a gentle meandering course that went from Louise McKinney Riverfront Park into Riverdale and back.

We had a super time hosting the event and hope we can turn this into an annual thing in the years to come. Thanks from Inner City!

Here, grad is a celebration of the resiliency of our students, their intelligence, and overcoming the significant barriers they face just to get to school. All students receive a certificate acknowledging their effort and recognizing the high school credits they earned.
